Test Senate is introducing the independent charm to the heart of Cambridge.

The Senate is an independent bar and bistro within the heart of Cambridge city centre. We pride ourselves on using fresh, seasonal, quality produce to uniquely craft a menu filled with homemade recipes and exciting dishes. We love the combination of bringing together family and friends with good food and drink. For early risers we have a refined but tasteful breakfast menu. Followed by a Lunch and Evening menu that extends to a variety of sandwiches, sharers and bigger dishes. With a small but well-constructed wine list to compliment every dish. We are a small team at the Senate, and all believe in a relaxed, friendly, atmosphere with great service.

Please note, we will be closed Monday and Tuesday Evenings from 01/01/2018-18/02/2018. However, we will be open Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th February for e-Luminate Festival.

What Our Customers Say

“'We went for an early supper and picked this last minute due to hearing other good reviews. We weren't disappointed. We were blessed with a gorgeous evening which enhanced the fantastic location. Our waitress was lovely - friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble (even heard her booking a cab for another couple). The food was fantastic. There are lots of sharing plates but we decided to go for one of the limited selection of main meals. Both the beef cheek and duck were fantastic and beautifully cooked; with a chocolate orange torte to finish you really can't go wrong. Will definitely be coming back."

Beth Healey

“Fantastic!! Great food wish I was still in Cambridge I'd have gone back tomorrow just for the Chicken and Pesto Ciabatta. Great service from the friendly staff. Highly recommend."

Looking forward to some warmer weather so we can sit outside for after work drinks!"

“Such a rare gem of a restaurant. An intimate space but well designed. We had a feast of cheesy chilli prawns, raclette, charcuterie and pitta with hummus. The flavours were amazing. A real treat."
