Relax & Enjoy A Great Atmosphere
The Senate is introducing the independent charm to the heart of Cambridge.
We love the idea of bringing friends & family together, to enjoy each other, food and drink. This is the basis of the place, creating a good environment where people feel relaxed and happy. The menu is Mediterranean in style, offering breakfast for those early risers. Late morning people can start choosing from the main menu, which offers a select few bespoke sandwiches, lovely salads and an array of sharers. The Sharers are great as a starter option, yet also to put some in the middle of the table and enjoy lots of flavours between a few of you. After 5pm a limited few bigger dishes are also available, usually following the patterns of the different seasons. Everything from the food through to the drink we have tried to concentrate on getting quality stock to offer.
“'We went for an early supper and picked this last minute due to hearing other good reviews. We weren't disappointed. We were blessed with a gorgeous evening which enhanced the fantastic location. Our waitress was lovely - friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble (even heard her booking a cab for another couple). The food was fantastic. There are lots of sharing plates but we decided to go for one of the limited selection of main meals. Both the beef cheek and duck were fantastic and beautifully cooked; with a chocolate orange torte to finish you really can't go wrong. Will definitely be coming back."
“Fantastic!! Great food wish I was still in Cambridge I'd have gone back tomorrow just for the Chicken and Pesto Ciabatta. Great service from the friendly staff. Highly recommend."
“Our new neighbour in St Mary's Passage. The Cuckoo girls had some delicious tapas and drinks one evening, The food was great and the vibe was chilled and stylish.
Looking forward to some warmer weather so we can sit outside for after work drinks!"
“You must try the tomato soup, it was very tasty. Loved the vibe, definitely coming back to try the sesame crusted Halloumi.
“Such a rare gem of a restaurant. An intimate space but well designed. We had a feast of cheesy chilli prawns, raclette, charcuterie and pitta with hummus. The flavours were amazing. A real treat."
“'The staff were really welcoming, The food was tasty and appealing and the restaurant is in such a lovely spot, looking out on the Senate House. Went there twice on my visit to Cambridge and both times we really enjoyed it."
